LCSO responded to a check the welfare call for a male subject who was outside of a hotel. A staff member reported he asked the male if he needed help and the subject ran from the area. Deputies located the male and determined he was under the influence of narcotics. He was taken into custody without incident for public intoxication. As he was being transported to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center the male began acting erratically and violently struck his head against the partition in the patrol vehicle. The deputies stopped in the area of Claiborne Parkway and Susan Leslie Drive to assist the male and contacted rescue personnel out of concern he may have injured himself. The male subject continued to act erratically and struggled with the deputies. Additional deputies responded to the scene and the male was further restrained for his safety and the safety of the deputies. The male had no visible injuries but was taken to a local hospital for observation out of an abundance of caution.
