Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic signal violation on Smith Switch Road. When the deputies approached the vehicle they could smell the odor of marijuana. Upon asking the driver to exit the vehicle, the driver sped off. Loudoun County Sheriff’s Deputies continued to follow the suspect vehicle and a pursuit was initiated. The driver continued to travel on Smith Switch Road before making a U-turn at Waxpool Road, and traveled north on Smith Switch Road before making another U-turn. The driver turned onto Waxpool Road and continued to flee deputies before they lost sight of the vehicle along Route 606. The vehicle eventually stopped in the 1300 block of Moran Road after driving into a single entrance/exit commercial area. During the pursuit the suspect vehicle struck two vehicles. There were no reported injuries. Following the pursuit marijuana was located inside the vehicle. The driver, Pablo J. Zurita Raldes, 23, of Ashburn was charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Disregard Police Commands to Stop (Eluding), Hit and Run x 2, Tint Darker then Allowed by VA Code, and Disregarding a Red Traffic Signal. Zurita Raldes was transported to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center where he is being held without bond. The case remains under investigation.
