Reston Man Faces Charges for Fabricating Stabbing Story and Multiple Embezzlements

Loudoun County, VA – In a series of events that raised concerns about crime in the area, a Reston man, Fawad Fafa, 44, has been embroiled in legal trouble following a string of deceptive and criminal acts. The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) has been at the forefront of investigating these incidents, which unfolded in Sterling, a community that has seen significant growth and change in recent years.

The first incident occurred on November 10, 2023, when Fafa reported being the victim of a stabbing in the Dulles Town Center Mall parking lot. He claimed that two masked assailants attacked him before fleeing. However, LCSO detectives, after a detailed investigation, concluded that Fafa’s story was a fabrication and that he had, in fact, injured himself.

This revelation followed an earlier incident on November 8, where Fafa, an employee at Sports Nation store located in the same mall, reported a burglary and theft of money. The LCSO’s investigation into this matter also pointed towards Fafa’s involvement in the embezzlement.

On December 15, Fafa was arrested and charged with two counts each of Filing a False Police Report and Embezzlement. He was briefly detained at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center, only to be released the next day on a $1,500 bond.

Shockingly, within days of his release, Fafa was implicated in another criminal act. On December 19, he forcibly took money from the cash register of Sports Nation. The Fairfax County Police Department apprehended Fafa for this latest burglary and embezzlement, and he is currently held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, facing charges from the LCSO.

This series of incidents not only brings to light the complexities of crime in our growing county but also stresses the importance of vigilance and community cooperation in maintaining safety and security in our local malls and businesses.
