Leesburg, VA – The Leesburg Police Department Criminal Investigations Section (CIS) is investigating a commercial bank robbery that occurred late this afternoon at the Truist Bank in Battlefield Shopping Center, Leesburg, Virginia.
On October 2, 2023, at approximately 3:32 PM, Leesburg Police Dispatchers were called in reference to a bank robbery at 1007 Edwards Ferry Road NE in Leesburg, VA. The suspect entered the business, demanded cash via a written note, and fled the scene after obtaining cash from the business. The suspect is described as an African American male, 25-35 years of age, approximately 5’8, medium build, 145 pounds, and wearing a blue surgical mask. The suspect remains at large.
There was a significant police presence due to the nature of the crime and search efforts to locate the suspect. The Leesburg Police Department would like to thank the Federal Bureau of Investigations, the Virginia State Police, and the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance.
