Deputies responded for a report of a pedestrian struck and that the striking vehicle had left the scene. The victim, a juvenile, was riding a bicycle in the grass when witnesses reported the vehicle swerved into the grassy area striking the bicyclist. The victim was transported to a local area hospital for treatment of his non-life-threatening injuries. At approximately 1:40 pm, while deputies were still on scene conducting the investigation, they noticed the suspect vehicle drive by. Deputies initiated a traffic stop and found the driver to be under the influence of alcohol. Matt P. Sterbutzel, 46, of Ashburn was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Hit and Run, and Drinking while Operating a Motor Vehicle. Sterbutzel was transported to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center where he is being held on a $1,500 bond.
