Officers responded to a home in reference to a 12-year-old who was having a mental health crisis. Being familiar with the young girl, who suffered trauma before moving to Purcellville, the officer requested a female deputy to respond. Fortunately, a CIT (Crisis Intervention) trained deputy was available, responded and established a rapport with the girl, who agreed to take previously refused medicines. The officers and deputy remained on the scene until they were sure that the crisis had passed. The family will be following up with the girl’s doctor. No additional intervention was required.
