Mental Health Crisis: Town of Purcellville VA

Neighbors reported a possible domestic situation but arriving officers quickly learned that a father and daughter were both in the midst of panic attacks. While officers were assessing the situation, the man’s parents returned a phone call. He asked police to speak with them and they agreed to respond to the home to assist. Medics were called to check on both the father and daughter, and both were cleared. Police also put the man in touch with the on-call emergency mental health counselor. She spoke to the man and later to officers and determined that, at this point, no mandatory mental health intervention was required. Police remained on the scene until the parents/grandparents arrived and the situation had stabilized.
