Leesburg Man Charged in Hit-and-Run of LPD Cruiser

D'Andre M. JamisonLeesburg, VA (August 25, 2022) – D’Andre Jamison, 25, of Leesburg, has been charged with one felony count of hit and run and one misdemeanor count of reckless driving by the Leesburg Police Department.  Jamison is being held on these, and unrelated charges brought by the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on no bond.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred on Sunday August 21, 2022, at shortly before noon, at the intersection of Washington Street NE and Blue Ridge Avenue NE.  After coming to a complete stop at the stop sign at the four-way intersection, officers in a marked Leesburg Police Department 2020 Ford Police Interceptor Utility cruiser turned left from northbound Washington Street NE onto westbound Blue Ridge Avenue NE.  A vehicle that had been travelling northbound on Washington Street NE behind the marked cruiser crossed the double yellow line and attempted to overtake the cruiser as it turned left.  The overtaking vehicle struck the front driver’s side corner of the cruiser and then fled northbound on Washington Street NE at a high rate of speed.  Officers did not pursue the vehicle due to safety concerns.  There are no reported injuries.

Pursuant to an investigation, D’Andre Jamison was identified as the driver and sole occupant of the striking vehicle.  The incident remains under investigation by the Leesburg Police Department.  Anyone who has relevant information is asked to contact Officer C. Thompson at 703-771-4500
