Law Enforcement Scam: Sterling VA

The complainant reported receiving a call from someone claiming to be with Border Patrol and told him that a package had been intercepted that was addressed to the complainant. The caller also advised the complainant that his bank accounts had been compromised and that he would be receiving a call from the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO). A few minutes later the complainant received another call from someone claiming to be with the LCSO telling him to clear up the matter he needed to purchase gift cards and provide the card information to them, which he did.
