Law Enforcement Imposter Scam: 1/23/2024 Ashburn VA

The complainant reported receiving a phone call from a subject claiming to be a deputy with the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office. The alleged deputy told him that he has a bench warrant and needed to make a payment to avoid getting arrested. The complainant was asked to wire money using a kiosk at a grocery store and sent it via cryptocurrency, then realized that he was being scammed when he called the LCSO.
