Deputies responded to the area for a report of a subject attempting to enter vehicles. The caller also reported that the subject had assaulted a male who tried to stop the subject from making entry into his vehicle. Deputies began to canvas the area and located the subject, who fled on foot. Deputies were able to detain the subject and place him under arrest. While conducting a search of the subject, deputies located a wallet and credit cards that did not belong to the subject and a pipe commonly used for smoking controlled dangerous substances (CDS). Tyler A. Mathes, 27 of no fixed address was charged with four counts of Theft of Credit Cards, Narcotics Possession, Assault, and Obstruction of Justice. Mathes was transported to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center where he is being held on no bond. The victim of the assault was transported to a local area hospital for treatment of his minor injuries.
