An Ashburn man has been arrested after he assaulted two deputies and attempted to disarm one after the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Costco store in Sterling for a shoplifting call. Yesterday afternoon at approximately 1:00 p.m., LCSO Deputies responded to the Costco, 21300 block Price Cascades Plaza, Sterling, for a reported larceny in progress. When two deputies confronted the subject, Sady Ashkar, he began to resist the deputies. Ashkar continued to resist and assaulted the two deputies as they were attempting to place him under arrest. A deputy tased the subject, which had no effect on him. Ashkar began to flee towards the front of the store and was confronted by store employees. Several bystanders assisted the deputies in stopping Ashkar from fleeing the store. Ashkar continued to physically resist, and at one point the subject tackled a deputy, grabbed the deputy’s taser, and threw it. He also attempted to grab the deputy’s holstered firearm. Other deputies responded and Ashkar was tased again before he was placed under arrest. As Ashkar was being evaluated by Emergency Medical Services, he assaulted a Loudoun County Rescue Medic. Ashkar was taken to a local area hospital to be checked out, prior to being transported to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center, where he is being held on no bond. Sady Ashkar, 32 of Ashburn was served on multiple warrants for assault on law enforcement and rescue personnel, attempting to disarm a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, and larceny/shoplifting-related charges. A deputy who was assaulted was transported to a local area hospital for treatment of his minor injuries. He was treated and released. The LCSO would like to thank the employees and bystanders who assisted in this incident.
