Staff at Giant watched a subject attempt to leave the store without paying for a cart full of items, but the suspect turned back in when he noticed staff watching him. Staff continued to observe and called police and the suspect eventually exited the store with the cart full of unpaid merchandise. He walked into the responding officer, stating, “you got me.” The subject was a self-admitted, unemployed addict. He was released on a summons for a future court date. The items were returned to the store.
