A deputy was waved over by a female on the side of the road. The female reported that another vehicle just crashed into her vehicle and that the driver had fled the area on foot. Responding deputies located the suspect. The male attempted to resist being taken into custody and assaulted a deputy. Jason C. Egland, 36, of Sterling was charged with Hit and Run, Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer, Obstruction of Justice, and Giving False Identity to Law Enforcement. Egland was later released from the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on a $2,500 bond.
