During the investigation, it was determined that two individuals who were known to each other were involved in a dispute. During the incident, two subjects discharged several rounds at each other. The two subjects were identified as John F. Green Jr., 57, of Ashburn, and Frank Sheppard Jr., 61, of Sterling. Both men left the scene prior to the arrival of law enforcement. A third individual involved in the incident, Sharonette L. Holland, 48, remained on the scene and it was determined she had moved evidence prior to the arrival of law enforcement. As detectives identified those involved, it was learned Green had left the area. He was apprehended last week in North Carolina with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service on a charge of Attempted Malicious Wounding. He remains held in North Carolina pending extradition to Virginia. Sheppard was arrested on October 5 and charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. He was released on a 3,000 secured bond. Holland was arrested and charged with Obstruction of Justice on October 4 and released on a personal recognizance bond.
ORIGINAL Gunfire: Shortly after 8:15 a.m., deputies responded to the area for a report of gunfire. Two vehicles that were parked in the area were found damaged. The incident was not a random act, and the circumstances remain under investigation. There were no injuries reported.
