Deputies responded to the area for a report of a reckless driver. While en route, the LCSO received another call saying the vehicle had crashed and that there were two young children in the vehicle. When the deputy instructed her to exit the vehicle, she resisted and assaulted the deputy. Diane Christine Mercer, 24, of Sterling, was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated (with children), Resisting Arrest, and two counts of Child Endangerment. Mercer was transported to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center where she is being held on no bond. The children were not injured in the crash.
