Deputy Injured in Accidental Shooting During Training

Loudoun County, VA (June 13, 2024) – The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) is currently investigating an accidental shooting that occurred this morning at the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Firing Range and Training Center. The incident took place at approximately 8:20 a.m. during a routine training exercise.

The incident involved two deputies, resulting in one deputy being transported to a local hospital with a serious but non-life-threatening injury. The injured deputy has undergone surgery and is now in stable condition.

Sheriff Mike Chapman addressed the situation, stating, “We have many safety protocols in place to prevent injuries during training, and we will conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances of this incident. In the meantime, I want to express that our thoughts and prayers are with both deputies and their loved ones.”

The LCSO has yet to release further details about the incident as the investigation is ongoing.
