The complainant, who was watching her sister’s children and was at a football game, called the police because her estranged brother-in-law, the children’s father, was at the stadium. She believed that this was a violation of a standing protective order. Officers ultimately learned that the order prohibited direct contact between the estranged spouses, but allowed for supervised visits with his children. The father never made any attempt to contact his kids while at the stadium. Police remained on the scene until all parties left the area.
