Deputies from the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office assisted with traffic control in reference to the officer-involved shooting.

Statement from the Virginia State Police The Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation’s Fairfax Field Office is investigating a non-fatal officer-involved shooting in Loudoun County. The incident began at approximately 7:30 p.m. Thursday (Feb. 27, 2020) when Virginia State Police initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle on Interstate 66 at Exit 57 for Route 50 in Fairfax County. The vehicle refused to stop, took Exit 57 and a pursuit was initiated on Route 50. The pursuit continued to Sterling Boulevard and Route 28 where the pursuit vehicle ran Ashburn Station (Sectors 310, 320, 330, 340, 350, 360, 370, 900) off the road and struck a sign. State police vehicles were then able to surround the suspect vehicle and bring it to a stop. Virginia State Police engaged with the suspect vehicle’s driver and at least one shot was fired by state police. The adult male pursuit suspect was flown to Reston Hospital Center and is being treated for a non-life threatening gunshot wound.
No law enforcement personnel were injured in the incident, which remains under investigation at this time. In accordance with Department policy, the trooper involved in the shooting will be placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
