Deputies responded to the location for a report of an assault. Upon arrival, the deputies discovered that a subject inside the residence discharged a round from a firearm earlier in the day and had now physically assaulted two people inside the residence. As deputies were taking the subject into custody, she resisted their efforts and spit at them as well as at an Emergency Medical Technician. Katlynn M. Rettman, 33 of Sterling was charged with:
- Two Counts – Obstruction of Justice
- Three Counts – Assault on Law Enforcement / Fire & Rescue
- One Count – Weapons Discharge within a Dwelling
- One Count – Reckless Handling of a Firearm
Rettman was transported to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center where she is being held pending a bond review.
